Temple Blessings for the Dead

So, I always post my talks on here. Not sure why. But, here is the talk I gave today:

President Howard W. Hunter said, “The gospel proclaimed to the world by the Latter-day Saints is the gospel of Jesus Christ as restored to the earth in this dispensation and is for the redemption of all mankind. The Lord himself has revealed what is essential for the salvation and exaltation of his children. One of these essentials is that temples are to be erected for the performance of ordinances that cannot be performed in any other place.”
In 1 Corinthians 15:29 we read, “Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if that dead not rise not at all? Why are they then baptized for the dead?

Vacation with Friends IV

Even though friends have moved, we still managed to get together. To see past vacations with this crew, click on the dates below:

And now, in 2015, we managed to do it again! 2 of us are still in South Carolina, but one family is in Texas and the other in North Carolina. It was really cool because it was as if we had never separated. It was so great spending time with them!!! :)

I am Pro Agency

Which profile picture are you using? I often get fussed at by people for being a fence-sitter. I've even been quoted Revelation 3:16, "So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth."

Sassafras Mountain to Table Rock

We went backpacking and had a blast!!! Ryanne had girlscout camp which she LOVED!!! She was there for 3 days and 2 nights. I decided that I didn't want to drive 3 hours to drop her off, then 3 hours home and then return two days later to do the whole thing over again. So, I thought this would be a good time to try an overnight backpacking trip. Collin and I took the dogs and my mom backpacking. YAY!! We went on the Foothills Trails. Okay, so I did my research and decided to try some "easy" trails. I thought in 3 days we could easily get about 10 miles in. However, when I spoke to one of the guys who wrote the trail guide, he recommended we try a strenuous section of the trail because of some issues going on with the portion I wanted. So, I looked at the book and saw that the end of that portion was for "handicapped" people. I thought, well, that must be pretty easy then. HA!!! So, our trip began. :)

Selfie at the look out.

This is what we saw.

First 2 nighter backpacking trip

Ryanne is going to girl scout camp so Collin and I are backpacking with the dogs and my mom. I'm sooo excited! So, here is what I have:

I have a small Gregory Deva 70 backpack. Now, this holds a LOT of stuff but it's because my son, daughter and I are generally the ones who go so I carry stuff for both of them. My husband has a job so he has to work. :(

What is a BAES?

So, I am constantly asked what I will do with a BAES? What is a BAES? Well, it stands for Bachelors of Educational Studies. I do all the courses elementary school teachers take except student teaching, also called demonstration teaching. Instead of that, I do a semester researching and analyzing alternative ways to learn or to teach --- using technology, classroom flipping, diversity issues...etc. It also means I get to write a mini thesis which I'm actually kind of excited about. At least, this is how my mentor described it to me. I, obviously, haven't finished it yet. So, summed up, I'll have an education degree but won't be certified to teach.

So, what can one do with this degree? Here are some ideas I have brain stormed.

Education Link

I had been trying to move my Education blog and combine it with this one. However, since I may be posting a lot of Education posts, I figured everyone didn't want to read those. So... if you are interested then click on the Education link at the top of the page and it'll take you to my Education blog. It's the same old one I used to have. I never moved everything over... some, but not all. Or, you can click HERE.
